Oh Jennifer, thank you. It is just wonderful to hear this from you and to know that we are still connected after all these years. Wishing you a Happy Mother's Day. You and Carl have built a beautiful family and an exemplary life together--knew you would. Love, L
What a lovely Mother's Day gift. While I'm saddened to reach the end, I am grateful for the gifts you have given us and look forward to your next writings. Happy mother's day to Rusty's mama.
What a lovely tribute to your mother. By releasing this very important and heartfelt memory, not only of this story but those final days with your mother, you, again, draw us into our memories of childhood and our own mothers. You and I were so blessed to have these mothers, who in similar ways suffered the trials of being Native American, but in their own ways passed along the love of storytelling and playmaking.
I think perhaps our mother's were similar in other ways. My mother lost her father at 14, which impacted she and my grandmother's life in ways my mother shared over many years of stories that taught me so many life lessons.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful stories and for making me want to write some more plays...though that impulse comes and goes...LOL.
So wonderful to know you are still here with me, after all these years, Alan. I can imagine that you want to write more plays, you have such a gift. I hope you do or don't -- whatever suits you. It is time for us to follow our bliss more than ever in this world.
I love the sweet and wonderful back story of your Mama being your inspiration, your first listener, your cheerleader. And what wonderful stories have come from her and you, putting your sweet heads together and in the meantime, reminiscing about your wonderful times (and some sad— into each life some rain must fall) and the makeup and back bone of ‘Dixon.’ Your story paused or stopped at like the end of Act 2? If we choose to imagine an ending. OR— at then end of Act 3. As you and your lovely Mama deemed. I love loved them all—the podcasts ! I started reading but about 2 I started listening and not only was your voice and cadence perfect, but also Alan for fun and so realistic sound effects. And again, the way your writing life got off the ground, there had to be angels involved ❤️
Angels, indeed. I have such a great amount of gratitude for all the angels that have appeared throughout my decades of life. They keep coming, too. There are some significant and special ones from up around Santa Barbara! Thank you for your support and friendship, Jeanine. xoxo
What a beautiful and haunting story. There is nothing unfinished here… while you may have hit pause with this series, I have no doubt you will carry the voices and experiences, the pain and the tenderness forward in your next project. I’m waiting!!
Thank you, Susan. It is bittersweet to have reached the end of the short story series but I am satisfied with this point of ending. And satisfied is not a familiar condition for me! So much of it is due to the support I've gotten from you and others, people I care about and wanted to tell YOU these stories. Thanks, mucho. xoxo
Lucinda - I have absolutely LOVED your beautiful writing. Thank you!!!

Hal, I am sending my best to you and your mother on this Mother's Day.
Your comments on my stories have given me a boost like you can't imagine! Thank you
